Sex workers accused of scamming young man in Baden for tens of thousands of euros

Two sex workers and an accomplice have been arrested for allegedly scamming and blackmailing a 23-year-old man in Baden out of a five-figure sum. The suspects, all Hungarian nationals, are accused of operating as part of a criminal group.

According to police, the victim met the two women through an online platform in early 2024. They allegedly carried out illegal prostitution activities in a private apartment in the Baden district, where the young man first encountered the group.

Fake pregnancy and extortion

One of the women, a 20-year-old, is said to have faked a pregnancy and claimed she needed money for legal fees back in Hungary. Over time, she and her associate reportedly pressured the man into giving them large sums of cash.

When the victim stopped making payments in October 2024, he was threatened with violence and told his life and career would be destroyed. He finally filed a police report in March 2025.

Arrests in Hungary and Germany

Police investigations led to the identification of three suspects: the 20-year-old woman and a man and woman, both aged 30. The two 30-year-olds were arrested in Hungary, while the younger woman was taken into custody in Germany.

All three were extradited to Austria in April and May and are now being held in detention in Wiener Neustadt. Police stated that during questioning, the suspects either gave partial confessions or refused to speak.

Authorities believe the group operated as part of a wider criminal network targeting vulnerable individuals. The case highlights ongoing concerns around illegal prostitution and cross-border crime in Austria’s red-light scene.
