A 30-year-old man has been taken into custody in the German city of Hof after allegedly threatening a woman with a large kitchen knife inside a brothel. Police say the situation began after a disagreement over the details of a service.
The man reportedly pulled out the knife during the argument, which caused the woman to call for help. Before officers arrived, he ran away and left the weapon behind.
Suspect Found at Second Location
A few hours later, the same man appeared at another brothel in the city. Police officers were able to arrest him there without any resistance. According to authorities, he was again carrying a large kitchen knife, as well as a small amount of cocaine.
Earlier Damage Linked to the Same Man
Police also believe the suspect was involved in another incident earlier that day. He is accused of throwing a brick at a residential building, breaking a window and damaging the glass in the front door.
Authorities have opened several criminal investigations against the man. The case is still ongoing, and more details about possible charges are expected later.
Why Working in Legal Brothels Is Safer

This case also highlights an important point about safety in the sex industry. Legal brothels often provide a more controlled and secure environment for workers. These places usually have staff on-site, security measures, and clear rules for clients.
In many legal establishments, workers can quickly call for help if a situation becomes unsafe. Surveillance systems, reception staff, and sometimes even security personnel can help prevent or stop dangerous incidents. Clients may also be required to follow certain rules, which lowers the risk of conflict.
While no environment is completely risk-free, regulated brothels can reduce many of the dangers that workers might face in unregulated or private settings.
